Real Life

A young lady on the Social Justice Leadership Team discussed her experiences as a homeless child. She explained to her peers that her family has lived in seven different shelters within three different states during her lifetime. The peers in her small group were shocked to hear her story. She went on to express that she had lost many friends who were taken away because they had single homeless mothers who couldn’t care for their children. Prior to this young lady’s story, the students thought of homelessness as a choice. Although this young lady expressed that homelessness was not a choice in her case.
